What is #GivingTuesday?

The week of Thanksgiving is home to more than one holiday—after gobbling turkey and giving thanks on Thursday, we head to the mall on Black Friday and spend more money collectively than any other day of the year.

But philanthropy can be as satisfying, if not more satisfying, than battling over the latest fad gift at the mall. As a response to the massive consumer spending in the days following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday was born.
